Some of our favorite new songs in recent years have been written by and/or performed by women. Women who are re-making roots music, Americana music, the kind of music that has something to say, great melodies, and using instruments that you play with your hands.

Many of these female artists won't get the accolades they might deserve. Good chance you haven't heard of some of them. But you ought to — GOT to — hear them.

Depending on your age, maybe you grew up hearing songs by Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton. Those women paved the way for this new generation of Women in Americana music.

In this camp, we'll take a ride into the present day, celebrating great songs of love, lust, heartbreak, joy, pain, grief, determination, and resilience by artists like Nikki Lane, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Allison Russell, Margo Price, Kathleen Edwards, Waxahatchee, Neko Case, Brandi Carlile... The list goes for miles.
