This course, taught by Tarik Sultan, introduces the fundamentals of Belly Dance (Raks Baladi)—a foundation that can be applied to any style, from American Cabaret (Am Cab) to Fusion to Oriental (Raks Sharqi).
You’ll not only build essential movement vocabulary, but also learn how to coordinate stylized hand and arm patterns to create a graceful frame around your body—bringing authenticity, fluidity, and artistry to your dance.

Dive deep into the heart of Egyptian-style belly dance with master instructor Tarik Sultan in this 3-week musicality and improvisation II course.
Egyptian and Arabic music naturally flows between lush melodic lines and driving rhythmic patterns. A skilled dancer not only knows how to distinguish between the two—but also how to respond in the moment with movement that feels both intuitive and intentional.
In this course, students will:
-Learn to interpret both melodic and rhythmic sections using
foundational movement vocabulary and dynamic variations
-Develop the ability to listen closely and respond to subtle
shifts, phrasing, and emotional nuances in the music
-Strengthen improvisational skills that allow for greater freedom
and expression in performance
-Explore a wide range of music—from classical and folkloric to
modern Egyptian pop
Whether you're a seasoned dancer looking to deepen your musical connection or newer to improvisation, this course offers powerful tools to enhance your artistry and presence onstage.

Step into the galaxy and channel the Force! Dancers will explore lightsaber technique combined with fusion dance to build a theatrical piece for the December 13th Bellyqueen School Showcase, 6pm+8pm. The choreography will focus primarily on lightsaber handling and twirling throughout the performance.
Students must bring a lightsaber. A dance cane may be used temporarily for the first few classes.
Search “baselit lightsaber, heavy dueling” on Amazon for budget-friendly options. Choose an RGB baselit lightsaber if you’ve never used a lightsaber before. If you already have a neopixel lightsaber, you are welcome to use it.
Shorter blades = better for shorter Jedis.
Small lightsaber option:
Attendance: Weekly video tutorials will be provided to support home practice, but they are not a substitute for class. To perform, plan to attend all sessions unless prior arrangements are made. Missing two or more classes may impact your participation in the show.
