Discover movement that feels free, expressive, and connected in
our Intro to Contemporary Dance Series. This series offers three
standalone 6-week courses, each introducing students to essential
elements of contemporary technique, artistry, and strength:
* Intro to Contemporary: Floorwork & Flow
* Intro to Contemporary: Technique & Musicality
* Intro to Contemporary: Improv & Expression
Each course approaches learning from a different perspective—whether it’s technical clarity, smooth transitions, or creative expression—giving beginner dancers (ages 18+) a complete introduction to contemporary dance.
These classes are perfect for adults who are new to dance, eager to explore contemporary as a style, or looking to build a foundation before joining weekly open classes. No experience needed. Your contemporary journey starts here.

Intro to Contemporary: Technique & Musicality
Build a strong technical foundation while discovering how your body responds to music, rhythm, and breath. This course introduces students to essential contemporary technique inspired by modern dance styles such as Horton (shapes and strength), Graham (spirals and contractions), and Limón (breath and fall/recovery).
Dancers will learn fundamental concepts like weight shift,
breath phrasing, connected pathways through the spine, and how
dynamics shape movement quality. Each week includes conditioning,
centre work, across-the-floor progressions, and phrase
building.
We’ll apply our developing technique to choreography, working
toward a short piece learned throughout the session. Students get
to experience how structured contemporary technique transforms into
expressive, musical performance.
Goal: To develop coordination, rhythm, contemporary alignment, and breath-driven movement while building confidence in musicality through choreography.
Who this is good for: Beginners (ages 18+) who want a clear technical roadmap for contemporary, or who enjoy learning through structure, rhythm, and choreography. Especially great for dancers transitioning from ballet or jazz, or those who want a technique-focused introduction before exploring floorwork or improvisation.

Intro to Ballet Series for Adults
Our Intro to Ballet Series offers three distinct 6-week courses designed to build a strong foundation in ballet technique. Each course explores the fundamentals — including basic foot and arm positions, posture, alignment, terminology, and coordination — through work at the barre and in the centre.
While each course has its own unique theme, together they provide a well-rounded introduction to ballet pedagogy. Dancers may take the courses in any order; they are not sequential.
Intro to Ballet: Jumps & Footwork
Theme: Agility, articulation, and dynamic movement
Focus: Petit allegro (small jumps), quick footwork, articulation through the legs and feet, posture, alignment, basic foot positions, pliés, tendus, and barre/centre work
Goal: Build strength, coordination, and rhythm while introducing energetic and dynamic movement. Dancers will learn to move with precision, lightness, and musicality while maintaining clean technique.
Who this course is for:
Perfect for adults who are new to ballet or returning after time
away. This course is ideal for anyone who wants to improve posture,
coordination, and fluidity of movement while experiencing the grace
and artistry of classical ballet in a welcoming, beginner-friendly
environment.
Ballet Level 2 Series
Take your ballet skills to the
next level with our Ballet
Level 2 Series — three 6-week courses designed for dancers
who have completed the Intro to Ballet Series or who have some foundational
ballet experience. Each course builds on the fundamentals of
posture, alignment, foot and arm positions, and barre and centre
work taught in the Intro to Ballet series, while introducing more
advanced technical challenges. Dancers will refine
musicality, coordination,
balance, agility, and control, gaining confidence and
artistry in more dynamic and expressive sequences. Like the Intro
Series, each course can be taken individually, allowing you to
focus on the areas that excite you most while continuing to develop
a well-rounded ballet technique.
Intro to Ballet Level 2: Movement Sequences and Progressions
Theme: Linking steps into flowing combinations, memorizing longer sequences and introducing repertoire (real Ballet choreography from famous Ballets)
Focus: Longer sequences, directional changes, transitions, posture, alignment, foot and arm positions, and barre/centre work
Goal: Strengthen coordination, memory, and confidence in performing connected combinations. This course helps dancers move smoothly through sequences, improving control, timing, and the ability to execute combinations with precision.
Who this course is for:
Ideal for adults who have completed the Intro to Ballet Series (all
3 courses) or have foundational ballet experience. Perfect for
dancers looking to deepen their connection between movement and
music, explore expressive phrasing, and build confidence in
