The Institute of Contemporary Dance Houston presents the Houston Contemporary Dance Company in a six day workshop geared toward the pre-professional and professional level dancers (Ages 15+) that are interested in a full choreographic experience while learning more about Houston Contemporary Dance Company. This workshop will consist of two technique classes a day and then the afternoon working on creating a new choreographic work from our 2 Guest Artists to be announced soon. Attendees conclude in a special performance on Saturday June 28th, 2025 at the Institute of Contemporary Dance.
Acceptance into the workshop is by audition only with limited studio spots. If you cannot audition in person or virtually, please submit a video audition. (See information for auditions and video auditions above).
FOCUS: an Institute Intensive (ages 11-18)
FOCUS is an Institute intensive based in both technique and artistry. Each week will start with core technique classes from the prestigious Institute faculty, a lunch break and a we will have two specific Professional Guest Teachers in each technique as well as having core classes in ballet, modern and jazz with the prestigious Institute faculty. Each week will allow the dancer to refine and develop skills to continue to grow their artistry and gain knowledge. On the first day of the program, all students will take placement classes which will determine which level they'll be dancing with throughout the week. These levels are largely age-based, but are also influenced by experience, natural facility, and ballet, modern and contemporary technique.
Dancers will be given the opportunity for Q&A with the faculty at the end of the week.
