Very small, private class - 8 people/class

Want to learn more about yoga poses and how to practice them in a way that is right for you body? We will work to ensure that we are finding ways of incorporating the yoga poses in a way that fits with and works for your body. We will then incorporate these poses into a gentle flow followed by a nice long cool down and shavasana. Very beginner friendly

This program is ideal for people with :
-low back
-shoulders
-neck
-hips
-rheumatoid arthritis
-osteophyte
-lupus

In this series of registered classes we will explore yoga asana approaches to rehabilitate and improve neck, shoulders, and lower back discomforts and gain insight to consciously heal the body

Part 1 (class 1 to 5) : Empower your Neck & Shoulders -

Their is a saying that the shoulders take responsibilities, and the neck provides ability to see the life around from various points of view. However in these parts of the body the flow of energies and proper communication between the brain and body is often blocked due to bad posture.

And that causes :

Annoying pain in neck, shoulders, arms, and wrists

Feeling down, unable to cope with stress

Reduces one’s capabilities and productivity

In this classes, we will work on postural alignment and learn to create space in the shoulders where we usually feel discomforts, and explore asanas to free the neck by focusing on opening the chest.

Part 2 (class 6-10): Rejuvenate Your Back & Hip Joints

Lower back pain is a common ailment, most of us experience it every now and then due to improper posture.

The muscles of lower back help to stabilize and rotate the spinal column, the spine and it’s nerves are the medium by which the body and brain communicates.

In this classes we will explore the asanas to mindfully relieve the tension of back and hip-joints and to support the back with a better pelvic position, allowing the energies to flow freely upwards.

Every Tuesday and Friday 10:15 am-11:15 am - starting February 25th - March 27th

Breathe for Respiratory and Nervous System in the Salt Cave (Pranayama and Halotherapy) - Series of 7
Mar 4, 2020 - Apr 15, 2020

Experience the power of conscious breathing (PLEASE Note - this is not a Yoga Class) to cultivate a clear, peaceful mind, and a vibrant, healthy body. Develop a new understanding of what it means to breathe. This pranayama practice is designed to build a conscious and joyful relationship with your breath. You’ll lengthen and strengthen your breathing with progressive patterns and guided meditations, which will transform your practice and improve your health on and off the mat. Each class will increase in length as you progress through the series and expand your lung capacity. Create space, cultivate calm, and connect with your creative center.

Most of us are hardly aware of our breath, yet it sustains every cell in our bodies and supports every life experience we will ever have.

Our breath is essential to life. It is also a powerful gateway to well-being we all can access. But if you’re like most people, you’ve likely developed unhealthy breathing habits without being aware of it.

Modern living and stressful experiences often lead to shallow, tense, quick breathing that deprives the body of oxygen and contributes to fatigue, anxiety, weakened immunity, mental sluggishness, premature aging, and other unnecessary health issues.

By paying attention to your breath, you can change what’s happening in your mind and body. Conscious deep breathing, known as pranayama, has been used by people for thousands of years to cultivate physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. And recent scientific research shows it increases vitality and longevity, while enhancing your overall health.

If you want to experience deeper states of calm and well-being, the key is to develop good breathing habits. Although most of us haven’t been taught them, they’re simple enough for anyone to learn.

How Pranayama will help me:

- Improve lung capacity and diaphragm mobility
- Reduce anxiety and physical tension
- Stimulate creativity and inspiration

Restores the elasticity of lungs and beneficial in Asthmatic conditions. Practised daily it induces meditative states and quietens the mind. Beneficial in relieving hypertension and stress. It relaxes the mind and lowers stress and reduces tension and anxiety.

Transformation only happens when you show up and do the work for yourself. VERY BEGINNER Friendly! Emma will walk you through the process step by step!

Mar - April - Yoga for Anxiety and Depression - Series - Series of 8
Mar 4, 2020 - Apr 22, 2020

Although many forms of yoga practice are safe, some are strenuous and may not be appropriate for everyone. Just as certain psychiatric medications have shown some efficacy for reducing anxiety and depression, it is important to understand that other therapies like yoga have been shown to improve mental health. Yoga is no longer considered a solely “holistic” approach to improving mental health and well-being—in recent years, it's gained a scientific following, and has extensive research behind it to support its benefits.

This eight-week yoga series will allow you to tune inward in to bodily sensations and to build a practice that focuses on mindfulness, stillness and physical and inner balance. Anxiety can leave you feeling out of control, ungrounded, and overwhelmed with everyday life. Together in a supportive group setting, we will band together to strip away the image of an “ideal” self, and really experience our bodies from the inside out. You may find that there are things about your body you actually like!

This group class will offer tools for building greater acceptance of your own body, healthy ways to deal with inner emotions, present moment awareness as well as working towards being compassionate to one’s self, and eventually others. Specific yoga techniques will give you greater body awareness and responsiveness which in turn are associated with lower levels of self-objectification and greater body satisfaction.

Yoga for Anxiety and Depression is an hour exploration of self through very gentle movement and sound. Lisa will lead a deeply grounding class focusing on movement and healing touch. Harmonic sound practitioner, Sergei, will combine his live music with Lisa's yoga to create a unique experience of breath, movement, and sound. The yoga class will end with an extended deep savasana, an hour-long sound meditation, head massage, crystal healing and aromatherapy: being on your mat, you will be saturated with healing sound, allowing you to access ultimate relaxation and a deep sense of peace.

All Leves Welcome. No Experience Necessary. This series is accessible to all - very beginner friendly.

March - April - Yoga for Beginners Series of 8

FOUNDATIONS I With Rachel Cadrin - Very Beginner Friendly

Dear Future Foundations Students,
The goal of this six week series is to introduce you to a method of engaging with your body that is safe, accepting, and self-aware, whether you’re dropping in to a class you’ve never tried, following along with a video at home, or stretching your back between long sessions at the computer.

We will use the framework of a beginners drop-in class, slowed down and opened up, to gain direct experience of the present moment through sensations of breath, weight, balance, stretch, resistance, and ease. All of us have access to these sensations. Learning to stay with them long enough to guide them is how we begin the practice of yoga.

I’ve taught Foundations for years, and in every series, we build strength through carefully graduated exercises that allow for challenge and healthy form at once. We discover flowing articulation from breath to spine and back again. We find support in the floor, and explore ways to draw that energy all the way through the body. But each series is also different, because it is always my goal to bring the foundational poses to the bodies in the room, instead of trying to push anybody toward someone else’s ‘perfect’ shape.

Postures in Foundations I will mainly include standing postures, restorative postures, breath awareness and relaxation. You are encouraged to continue onto Foundations II, which will include downward dog, beginning seated postures and twists, introductory inversions.

Try this series if you drop-in to class but wonder what’s underneath the instructions. Try it if you’d love to find a greater degree of ease in your body but are afraid of getting hurt. Try it for better sleep, for more satisfying focus. Try it! Because of all the ways we seek to feel more alive, this is one that works.

Yoga for The Kidney & Urinary Bladder - Meridian Series of 8
Mar 6, 2020 - Apr 24, 2020

What is The Meridian System and Yin Yoga and Why You'd want to revitalize your kidneys.

The health of our organs is vital to our overall well-being. If we understand their importance on the physical, energetic, psychological levels we will be much more motivated to develop a yin yoga practice that nourishes, protects, and even helps to heal our internal organs. Join us for a series of classes that will be focusing on the energetic pathways called meridians, focusing on the kidney and & urinary bladder lines in the body.

The Kidney Meridian

The Kidney Meridian begins in the little toe of each foot. It travels through the sole, the arch, and up the inside of the knees and thighs and enters our torso near the tailbone. It continues up along either side of our spine, connecting internally with our bladder and kidneys, to our throat ending at the root of our tongue.

The Urinary Bladder Meridian

The UB Meridian begins at the inside of our eyes. It travels up across our forehead and enters our brain. From here it travels down our back on either side of our spine. An internal branch connects to the kidneys and urinary bladder, while outer branches run all the way down the back of the legs ending at our little toe in each foot.

Energetic and Emotional Qualities

The Kidney-Bladder pair is the foundation of balance for all other organ pairs. This pair is our storehouse of vital energy that must remain in balance for our system to work harmoniously. Within our kidneys, according to TCM lives our Jing, or essence. Jing is said to be the foundation of all life. Some believe it to be connected to our ancestry and our inherited constitution. Our prenatal Jing, the energy stores that we are born with, are constantly being depleted simply by living life. Additional stress and illness consume your prenatal Jing more rapidly. We can accumulate postnatal Jing through mindful living and practice like Yin Yoga. Jing is said to be the key to longevity in TCM, which is why stimulating our Kidney Qi and replenishing our Jing is so important.

When our Kidney Qi is balanced we are able to access our innate gentleness, openness and inherent wisdom. The kidneys are associated with our willpower, ambition and level of energy. Conversely, when our Kidney Qi is out of balance we feel the emotion of fear. In this state we have trouble completing tasks, we have less energy, drive and enthusiasm. We might feel disconnected from ourselves and have a diminished sense of self worth and power.

Luckily, this yin practice requires very little energetic effort yet stimulates and nourishes our Kidney Qi and offers our minds a fresh perspective. As you move into this practice, keep the meridian lines in mind. We stimulate these energy channels by both stretching or compressing the targeted areas of the body. Aim to keep your body and mind soft throughout this practice. Remember, Yin yoga is a passive practice so there is no strain or pushing necessary. Let your body be your guide.
