Beyond the Primary Complaint Workshop
When the Pelvic Floor Is the Missing Link
With Jennifer Duggins

Many common patient complaints—gastrointestinal, genitourinary, low
back pain, hip pain, SI dysfunction, core instability, even
breathing and postural issues—have underlying pelvic floor
involvement. Yet these connections are often overlooked in
traditional evaluation and treatment approaches.
This workshop is designed to help providers recognize when the
pelvic floor may be contributing to a patient’s presentation, even
when symptoms appear elsewhere.
Through a systems-based framework, we’ll explore how the pelvic
floor integrates with the core, diaphragm, and surrounding
musculoskeletal structures—and how dysfunction can
present in ways that are easy to miss without a trained lens.
Providers will gain practical strategies for identifying patterns
that suggest pelvic floor involvement, understand when referral is
appropriate, and learn how to better integrate care across
disciplines.
This is also an opportunity to better understand and utilize one of
Method’s most valuable internal resources—our pelvic floor
specialist—so patients receive the most comprehensive,
effective care possible.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Recognize when common complaints may have pelvic floor
involvement
Understand the pelvic floor’s role within the larger system
(genitourinary, gastrointestinal,
colorectal systems as well as in core, breath, and posture)
Identify patterns that warrant deeper assessment or referral
Improve interdisciplinary collaboration within Method
Confidently guide patients toward the right level of care
