MA-RA-KA-TA Yoga
Jun 30, 2024 - Jun 30, 2024
We are so excited to have our local yogi, Kylie holding this wonderful monthly yoga deep dive!
Marakata is the Sanskrit name for emerald meaning
'the green of growing things.'
This 90 minute MA-RA-KA-TA practice brings together
4 styles of yoga, offering the benefits to be found in the balance
and growth of space, energy, connection, and peace.
MA (Yin Yoga)
The Japanese concept of Ma has been described as a
pause in time, an interval or emptiness. Ma is the fundamental
space from which life needs to grow. We start our practice working
with the connective tissues and meridians of the body through
longer held floor and seated poses, creating space through static
stretches and somatic shapes.
RA (Sun Salutations)
Ra is the sun god of Ancient Egypt. He was the
patron of the sun, power, light, and life giving energy. Here we
generate momentum, focus, and heat, moving energy through flows of
standing and floor poses.
KA (Breathwork)
In Ancient Egyptian beliefs, Ka represents the
immortal spiritual aspect of a being, also interpreted as the
life-force or the indwelling soul. From a yogic perspective, the
breath is life-force energy. Here, we connect to this life giving
force through pranayama: breath control through breathing
exercises.
Ta (RELAXATION)
Ta is an informal way of saying thank you. Here we
finish our practice in simple stillness, balancing and bringing
home the energy we have moved with gratitude and peace.
