Slowing down the flow is a practice that encourages using steady breathing, smooth transitions, and holding postures geared towards uniting the mind and the breath. It's smooth linking of unhurried breath with movement, intensified by mindfully holding postures. The practice builds strength and ease as each movement is initiated with a smooth breath. Expect leg, hip, back, and shoulder openings along with longer holds to gain flexibility and increased mobility. A guided meditation is offered at the end of the class to find true balance for your day. Options are offered to allow for all skills.

Postures in the practice of yoga help us reach a higher state of health and well-being. The movement patterns in yoga have been shown to improve strength, stability, balance, digestion/elimination, immunity and overall feelings of well being! The use of a chair or any other yoga prop facilitates this according to our body’s personal structure and ability. The chair allows for many to improve their postural alignment the basis for each subtle movement within the class. The use of a chair can minimize the activity of the mind (often expressed as concern about stability, strength, balance, etc.) by allowing time to integrate the posture from the inside out as well as experiencing the ease and steadiness of the form with the support of the chair beneath the body.  This class is very accessible. This invigorating class is designed to link rhythmic breath with movement, while keeping a focus on proper alignment. Portions of the class flow through the primary standing poses, while others slow to settle deeply into static poses. Students are encouraged to find the challenge that’s right for them as they embrace an increased level of strength, toning, flexibility, balance and mental clarity in sun salutations, peak poses and deep stretches – all with the intention of cultivating balance in mind and body. Appropriate for students with yoga experience and mindful beginners.
