Term 4 - Tap Intro Course
Sep 23, 2019 - Dec 9, 2019

An introduction to the rhythm and percussion of tap dance technique, in a class with other beginner adults, set to a diverse soundtrack that includes the latest pop music, as well as classic tap tunes, and even the music of your own feet.

Have you ever gone to an adult tap dance class, but found that you couldn’t keep up and had no idea what your feet are supposed to do? Or that most of the people there are barely out of their teens?

Neither of these things will happen in our 12 week Introduction to Tap course. Firstly, we really do have people in their 30s and beyond in our tap classes. And we’ll start from the basics, and support you as you start to learn basic steps and rhythms, develop an understanding of timing and how to shift your weight from foot to foot, build strength in your legs and feet, experience different types of tap dance, and train your body in the way a tap dancer moves.

It’s a way for adults to learn tap dance that won’t make you feel self-conscious about your age, size, or lack of experience. Everyone else in the class will be in the same position as you, learning tap dance for the first time.

Your teacher will be a specialist in teaching tap dance to adults, which means you won’t be asked to do something that is harmful to your body, you won’t be expected to wear revealing clothes that make you uncomfortable, and you’ll be treated like an individual who has their own dreams, goals and aspirations.

At the end of the 12 weeks, you’ll never have to be afraid of being the only novice in a tap dance class again. You’ll be ready to step into one of our Level 2 tap classes, or you could attend an ongoing beginner tap dance class anywhere and hold your own.

Next course starts 8.15pm Monday 23 September 2019.
