Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is the most widely researched program known to reduce stress and enhance well being. It is an eight-week program that introduces you to mindfulness practice in the form of sitting meditation, body awareness and mindful movement/yoga. It was created by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD. at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979 and has been replicated in over 700 hospitals throughout the world since then. It has proven to be an incredibly effective tool for managing pain, depression, anxiety, and stress. Research also shows it’s effectiveness for improved attention, mental clarity, health and communication with others.The MBSR course includes 8 weekly sessions and a one-day silent retreat. Various mindfulness tools are introduced and practiced in a confidential group context.

This introduction to empathic reception will help attendees discern where they may be on the spectrum of being empathic, empathetic, or both. What is the difference, and how does self-care differ for different sensitivities? How can we broaden our identity and comfortably hold this part of our authentic self without sacrificing other aspects of who we are? This class will offer the opportunity to share in discussion and experience hands-on learning about the mechanics of being an empath. About the Facilitator: Elizabeth (Liz) Gómez is the founder of Ewassa, a forest space in Evergreen dedicated to facilitating deep healing through shamanic energy medicine and nature-based events. Liz is a certified Shamanic Energy Medicine Practitioner, trained in Andean (Q’ero) shamanic practices through The Four Winds Society. Prior to her formal training in energy medicine, Liz spent much of her adult life overseas (West Africa, Haiti, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Brazil…) working in the field of public health. In each of the places she lived, she sought out opportunities to work with or observe traditional medicine men and women in their healing practice. Liz has spent nearly 20 years practicing a Brazilian spiritual tradition rooted in the natural world and the four elements, working closely with the energies of nature in ceremony. What is Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention?

Dr. Paul Lam and his team of medical and tai chi experts designed this program to be safe and effective for people who are at increased risk of falling. It will also provide health benefits and improve almost anyone’s quality of life.

The TCAFP program includes warm up and cool down exercises, the teaching method, knowledge about arthritis and the cause of falls, and how to teach this program safely. Qualified participants who successfully complete the course will be accredited by the Tai Chi for Health Institute to teach this program. Studies also shown the program prevent falls; that is why the Center of Disease Control and Prevention recommends it for this purpose. It is supported by many Arthritis Foundations including the USA, Australia and UK.

Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis

Pre Requisite for Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis: TCA or TCA Fall Prevention Instructor Certification. This modified seated version of Tai Chi for Arthris can be enjoyed by anyone wishing to pracce tai chi sing down. People with almost any chronic condion can learn to improve their health and mobility. This safe easy-to-learn program relieves pain and improves health and quality of life.

Tai Chi for Arthritis Part 2

Pre Requisite for Tai Chi for Arthritis Part 2: TCA or TCA Fall Prevention Instructor Certification.

Part 2 is ideal for those who have completed the original program and are looking for a more challenging course. Learn the 21 new challenging movements and add to your Tai Chi for Arthritis Part 1 form.
