Deoné Newell (Diné/Black) is a certified Yoga Teacher, Breathwork Facilitator, Reiki Master, and Sound Healer with a background in trauma-informed care and nervous system regulation. She combines somatic tools, Indigenous wisdom, and vibrational healing to support long-term resilience and holistic well-being. Deoné’s sound healing sessions integrate crystal bowls, the West African Kora, and intentional breath practices to create space for both grounding and renewal.
This 90-minute session offers an accessible introduction to nervous system regulation through breath and sound. You’ll learn two practical breathing techniques that activate the parasympathetic nervous system—supporting stress relief, emotional balance, and mental clarity. The session will close with a sound healing experience using crystal singing bowls tuned to frequencies known to promote deep relaxation and support theta brainwave states—tied to short and long-term memory repair. Headphones are recommended for the best audio experience, and participants are encouraged to join from a quiet, comfortable space.

We’ll cover the key anatomical and physiological changes during each trimester and the early postnatal period, common contraindications, and appropriate yoga modifications. Special attention will be given to understanding the pelvic floor, breathwork, and how to create a supportive and inclusive space. The session includes a sample flow incorporating modifications and themes relevant to pre/postnatal participants. This session will be led by Courtney Whiteman.
Courtney has over 5 years of experience as a personal trainer specializing in pre- and postnatal fitness, combining evidence-based movement practices with a body-positive approach. Courtney currently works in policy as a Cultural Advisor, advocating for Indigenous health and well-being. She credits yoga as a vital part of her own pregnancy journey, supporting her physical and mental health, and advocates for movement during pregnancy as a powerful way to stay connected, strong, and healthy.
