Specializing in headaches can be a very good business decision, and an even better hands-on choice!

Over 45 million Americans (about one in six) suffer chronic headaches each year. Headaches therefore have a big economic impact — when you have a throbbing pain in your head, it's hard to work. The cost of these headaches in absenteeism and medical expenses is estimated as high as $50 billion per year. Annually, people seeking treatment for headache pain account for 8 million consultations with physicians.

There are multiple causes of headaches and while most of these causes are not in the domain of massage therapy, tension and structural causes which account for many, are.

Join us for a comprehensive look at headaches and a surefire treatment plan for headache sufferers regardless of the cause. We have created a sophisticated massage therapy protocol for headache relief combining medical massage techniques like trigger point therapy, connective and deep tissue bodywork with traditional shiatsu for the neck, shoulders and upper back.

Great class! Opened my eyes to so many new techniques, especially practitioner saving techniques!! — Angie Pyatt, LMT

Craniosacral Therapy Integration for Scar Tissue Remediation
Aug 14, 2025 - Aug 14, 2025
Craniosacral Therapy for Scar Tissue Remediation
with Annette Joubert, LMT

8 credits, 9:30-6:00pm, $200

Course Difficulty Level Advanced

This level of training demonstrates how Cranio sacral techniques are utilized and integrated with gentle effective techniques to release or align scar tissue restrictions, thus assisting patient self-correction. Students learning to palpate the underlying restrictions affecting the cranio sacral system. The scope of practice is defined to prior therapist certifications and is specific to the adult population.

Scar tissue often is not given the proper amount of remediation. During cranio sacral technique application patients may feel restrictions or have referred pain but do not remember injuries or understand how scar tissue impacts them long term. Somatic emotional release (SER) may assist resolution of the emotional load in trauma; however, does not remediate the deforming integrity of scar tissue.

Students will learn the various types of scars and their classifications. They will also understand underlying muscular tension and forces which contribute to the development of hypertrophic and keloid scar tissue.

This class will instruct students of CST how to address common scar tissue patterns associated with surgery and other scar tissue types, burns, fibrosis etc. They will be informed about contraindications, cautions and considerations of working with scar
tissue.

Session outcomes relieve pain, stress and increase parasympathetic tone. Students learn to partner with patients to administer gentle touch technique. Patient self-care techniques are discussed.
