Do the Dharma. Wisdom, Service & Love
May 17, 2024 - May 19, 2024

If we don’t know where we’ve been, how can we know where we are going? The Bhagavad Gita’s wisdom is just as valuable and applicable today as it was when it was composed circa the 5th-2nd century BCE.

This three-part workshop elucidates practitioners to Classical Yoga’s origins as a spiritual path through the study of selected slokas of The Bhagavad Gita. In this workshop, we will move further down the philosophical path of Yoga, learning the historical origins of The Bhagavad Gita, why multiple yoga paths (margas) are given as antidotes to Arjuna’s dharmic crisis, as well as understanding the three (or four!) Margas. Through the study of the Marga definitions: Karma Yoga, Jñāna Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga as given in The Bhagavad Gita, practitioners will gain ancient wisdom grounding for the catchphrase, “Take your yoga off the mat.”

This weekend workshop will be led by Rachel Joyce.

Weekend Schedule: May 17th-19th 2024

  • Friday 6:30-9:30pm: What Is / Was Yoga?
  • Saturday 12-6:30pm: Yoga Margas Defined in The Bhagavad Gita Part I
  • Sunday 12-6:30pm: Yoga Margas Defined in The Bhagavad Gita Part 2

30hr Restorative Yoga Teacher Training
Jun 7, 2024 - Sep 14, 2024
Restorative yoga is the antidote to the chronic stress and anxiety of our modern life which leads to chronic health issues. True relaxation cannot be initiated by the mind. Placing the body in restful, restorative yoga poses, fully supported by
blankets, cushions and pillows, teaches the student how to send messages from the body up to the brain by saying “you don’t need to be in survival mode any longer” and “it is safe to relax”. Once in this mode, the mind can send messages down to the body to further nourish itself in this healing mode.

This Yoga Alliance approved certification training is designed for 200 and 300hr Registered Yoga Teachers and dedicated Yoga Students. Yoga teachers will learn how to compassionately integrate restorative poses at the end of their regular
yoga classes and be prepared to offer Restorative Yoga classes. This immersion into the world of restorative poses is also for dedicated Yoga Students to learn how to supportively practice these poses at the end of a yoga class and how to
develop a home practice. Now, more than ever in this lifetime, Yoga Teachers and students alike need these stress busting skills to eliminate the havoc placed on the body, mind and nervous system.

What you will learn:
- Expert instruction in restorative yoga poses
- How relaxation affects the nervous system
- How relaxation can bring deep healing and boost the immune system
- How sequencing of poses affects the nervous system
- How to adapt common household items into useful restorative props

Yoga Teachers and Students will receive a certification at the end of this training. Registered Yoga Teachers will also receive 30 hours of Yoga Alliance approved credits (24 hours of in-person training, plus an additional 6 hours of credits upon
completion of a home practice and journal). This is a multiple weekend program which will not be recorded, so please plan on attending each training.
