In this course, you'll experience a deep sense of how speed and time transform your drawing process and artistic expression by creating four dynamic artworks: two bursting with quick, gestural energy and two with more developed, intentional figures.
During this three week course, you will create three landscape paintings using the beautiful medium of soft pastels and complete one drawing per week. We’ll be studying pastel works by Degas, Monet, Morisot, and other Impressionist masters, and the instructor will show you the step-by-step process of creating pastel paintings in the Impressionist style with a variety of landscapes references. Open to all levels.
Beginners welcome - no art experience needed.
Learn the styles of six different painters: Fayum portraits, Frank Auerback, Frida Kahlo, Alice Neel, Alex Katz, and Luc Tuymans, and paint six self-portraits, using a mirror. Learning to paint in their style will help you flex your creative muscle and try yourself at Contemporary Realism in three different styles, Abstract Expressionism, Symbolism, Minimalism, and mixed media. Learn art history and discover new artists while making a very personal polyptych. This course will open up a new world for you - the world of portraiture.
Beginners welcome - no art experience needed although drawing experience will be helpful.
Perspective is all around us, but it makes itself invisible to the untrained eye. This is one skill that is close to impossible to grasp on your own because perspective is surprisingly counterintuitive in some of its parts. We are here to demystify perspective and show you the secrets to avoiding mistakes that even the great masters made.
