What is Kirtan
Kirtan music is an ancient practice in Yoga that can bring powerful spiritual effects, and is part of a practice known as Bhakti Yoga. Kirtan songs are made up of sacred sounds and have a call-and-response style, where one person sings a line, and another repeats it back, making it perfect for community. It can be sung by anyone! It’s less about sounding perfect, and more about the feeling of lovingness, community and celebration.
What to expect
Chumki will be leading the Kirtan and will bring some drums and shakers for everyone to share and use. Yoga mats and bolsters are available to seat, you can bring your own floor chairs if you wish.
Chumki will bring some cooked vegeterian glutenfree food to share with the community. Please feel free to bring something vegeterian (meat/fish free)/vegan you would like to share!
