Like everyone else navigating daily life in this political and social climate, I take refuge in practices that address the visceral flood of sensations that arise from feelings of fear, disgust, impotence, regret…you name the emotions that plague you; they all arise for me, too. The practices that matter to me, when I am balanced enough to do them, are also clearly spiritual in nature, not just ways to come down from the lip of the cliff. I do these practices with the intention of being ready and able to love the people in my life, help others in ways that I can, and stand up for my beliefs. They keep me from being overwhelmed. They let me rest.
If you like, let’s join together for a few of these practices. Stella and I will guide you through simple ways to wake up the body and embrace its groundedness (after all, it’s the densest kosha, material energy), some breathing practices that awaken and calm, and a guided meditation on finding the still point within us that remains constant as thoughts, emotions, feelings and sensations swirl endlessly. Witness consciousness resides there.
As we practice, I’ll read quotes from some of my favorite poets and philosophers—exquisite watchers and listeners.
This is the second in a series of workshops, but each is free-standing. Linda is graciously donating her time as a love-offering to the studio to keep the workshops accessible. Please contact the studio if the suggested donation is not feasible.
