Creative Movement: Level 1 (Caterpillar) is a 30-minute class introducing young dancers, aged 3-4, to the world of creative movement and classical ballet fundamentals. Through play-based learning, imaginative role-playing, and sing-along songs, dancers explore the 5 elements of dance, developing gross motor skills with locomotor movements. They'll love pretending to be animals, tightrope walkers, and even astronauts on the moon, all while using fun props to enhance the experience
Creative Movement: Level 2 (Butterfly) is a 45-minute class that continues to explore creative movement, self-expression, and ballet. Incorporating imaginative play, dancers will learn rhythm by playing instruments, practice balancing, skipping, running, and further develop hand-eye coordination using props. Our engaging approach ensures that learning ballet techniques feels like a joyous adventure, so much so that dancers won't even realize they're learning fundamental dance elements along the way. Creative expression is encouraged throughout the class, fostering a basic understanding of locomotor movements and proper body alignment during movements across the floor
Pre-Ballet is a 45-minute class designed to introduce young dancers to the world of dance while developing essential gross motor skills required for primary dance instruction. They will learn basic ballet steps such as plié, tendu, elevé, the 5 positions of the arms and more. Throughout this class, students will delight in dramatic music movement, fostering their creative expression and developing a basic understanding of locomotor movements. Our focus lies in cultivating musical awareness and encouraging exploration of movement, all while emphasizing proper body alignment during movements across the floor
Diamonds (Ballet 1)
Welcome to Diamonds, VOLTA’s Ballet 1 class! Designed for young dancers beginning their formal ballet training, this class lays a strong technical foundation while nurturing discipline, focus, and a love for the art form
Dancers will develop posture, alignment, and fluidity of movement through progressive exercises that introduce ballet vocabulary, precise footwork, and graceful port de bras. Class includes both barre and center work, with a special emphasis on center barre exercises to strengthen proprioception—helping dancers build balance, body awareness, and control
Students will also explore movement through space, learning across-the-floor progressions and circular formations to build confidence, coordination, and musicality. Creative expression is encouraged alongside structured technique, fostering a sense of joy and self-assurance in every dancer
Our supportive class environment values individual progress. With attentive instruction and positive reinforcement, each child’s unique strengths are celebrated as they develop both their ballet technique and their personal confidence
