Heartfulness Meditation

Silent Meditation led by a practiced trainer in the method of Heartfulness Meditation. We usually sit for 30 to 45 mintues and there may be questions or discusssion for the last part of the hour. Cushions, blankets or chairs are provided. There is also a yoga class from 8 am to 8:50 am, preceeding the meditation. If you would like, you can do both back-to-back. The meditation and the yoga class are both by donation. All are welcome.

Yoga to Support Lymphatic Health and Well Being

Using a combination of research-based approaches and gentle yoga, we will explore the ways Yoga, stretching, movement, and breathing techniques can support the lymphatic system and general wellness. This first session has been designed with breast cancer survivors in mind, but is suitable for anyone interested in lymphatic flow. We will also touch on the use of affirmations, guided visualization, mindfulness, restorative yoga, and other related topics to enhance your learning experience. Facilitated by Cindy Winick, a breast cancer survivor and a physcial trauma survivor who uses these techniques to manage lymphedma.

$10 for a single class, $40 for all 5 classes in the series, free for The Yoga Place & Yoga Central Staff

Mytho-Somatic Yoga

“Mythosomatic Yoga”

This class is a shared container for liberating the imagination (mythos) and body (soma) from the toxicity of the impact of inherited notions of who and how we are supposed to be, so that who and how we actually are can flow unimpeded from the source of our being into expression in our lives. This is a ritualized praxis that works in alignment with seasonal and lunar cycles, weaving lyrical movement, somatic yoga, breathwork, restorative yoga, massage and craniosacral in service to collective liberation.

This is an all-levels, all-bodies welcome class that nourishes the organs, cultivates vitality, and fortify’s the nervous system.

** While not a religious class, its foundation is spiritual and technologies such as ritual, prayer, invocation, and imagery are part of the practice. All are encouraged to come with a curiosity for possibility.

Co-led by Oviya Blackerby and Mike Curtis. Oviya has 8 years experience in bodywork, 10 years in birth work and 18 years in yoga therapy and movement education.

Summer Solstice Kundalini

Let’s close out the longest day of the year (the Summer Solstice) with an evening practice to connect to our Inner Radiance. Kundalini Yoga is called the “Yoga of Awareness,” and we will cultivate this through a Yoga Kriya, Pranayam, and Meditation led by Bethany Santos (Kirti Taj Kaur). Matthew DeRubertis (Sangat Taj Singh) will provide a landscape of sound and music as we surrender into deep relaxation. Yogi tea, snacks, and social time will be available post-practice. Sat nam!

Be Still & Know 2024 - Practices in Silence & Discernment

Join us for a classical Yoga-Ashram style retreat designed to help you re-discover the sacred silence within, and to connect profoundly with your authentic Self. Bring bedding to stay overnight at Yoga Central, or commute from home. Our silent retreats focus on the wisdom teachings of Yoga, and Yogic practices to help you both experience and sustain inner connection and awareness. This retreat is offered on a donation-only basis, and is open to all seekers of all traditions.

Swami Sankarananda is a monk of the Sivananda order, a teacher of Yoga, and a pilgrim for peace. He walked a pilgrimage for 2.5 years, including coast to coast in 2014. He shares an ancient knowledge of Yoga, and how to lift ourselves from fear to achieve our fullest potential.
