Beginner Belly Dance: Foundations

This class is an 8-week series for $100, open to all ages. No dance experience is required.

It is an excellent starting place for anyone who struggles to enjoy conventional exercise programs and is looking for fun, alternative ways to get fit, toned, and energized, or just to have fun and experience something new.

In this class, you will learn the foundational movements and techniques of belly dance. You will also learn to understand and appreciate how your body works during dance and how to isolate specific muscles and breathe through movement. Belly dance can increase confidence, relieve stress and tension, and create a time that is just for you to relax and celebrate your body and how it moves.

This beginner series will focus on proper posture and technique that will allow you to learn the foundations of belly dance. From there we will build up to movement combinations. Students should wear comfortable exercise clothes and either bare feet or socks.

So if you're looking for a fun new way to build strength, stamina and increase flexibility, in a safe and nurturing environment, come dance with us!

Series consists of 8 weekly one-hour classes. $100 for the 8 week series.

Intermediate Belly Dance: Foundations and Fusion

This class is open to all ages, and students should have taken at least one beginner Belly Dance class with Shanrae or another instructor with a minimum of 6 months of belly dance experience.

Belly Dance is for anyone who struggles to enjoy conventional exercise programs and is looking for fun, alternative ways to get fit, toned, and energized, or just to have fun and experience something new.

In this class, you will continue to build on the foundational movements and techniques of belly dance learned in the Beginner class.

You will continue learning to understand and appreciate how your body works during dance and how to isolate specific muscles and breathe through movement while enjoying movement combinations and short choreography. Belly dance can increase confidence, relieve stress and tension, and create a time that is just for you to relax and celebrate your body and how it moves.

This Intermediate class will focus on continued use of proper posture and technique that will allow you to build on the foundations of belly dance and begin exploring more in depth movements, isolations and layering of movements.

Advanced Fusion Belly Dance: Choreography & Stage Presence

This class is an 8-week series for $100, open to all ages.

This Advanced Belly Dance class is recommended for students who have at least one year of experience in Belly Dance. In this class we expand on techniques learned in the Beginner and Intermediate level classes. The class is focused on learning choreography and developing stage presence while continuing working on drills and conditioning for a healthy dance practice.

$100 for the 8 week series.

T'ai Chi For Health And Relaxation - Fall Session II

T'ai Chi Ch'uan is literally translated as supreme ultimate boxing. The supreme ultimate part refers to the Chinese concept of the origin of the universe. Out of the infinite potential of the void arises the dual principles of yin and yang. Yang being the male, warm, forceful, light principle, and Yin being the female, cool, yielding, dark principle. Neither one of these principles is superior to the other, and both are necessary because each contains some of the other. They are two sides of the same coin. The yin-yang symbol is also a symbol of T'ai Chi. T'ai Chi Ch'uan is a harmonious dance of yin and yang sometimes referred to as “meditation in motion”.

T’ai Chi was originally practiced as a martial art emphasizing strength and speed. Through time it has evolved into a gentle form of exercise that can be practiced by people of all ages. It consists of a sequence of movements that are performed slowly, softly and gracefully with smooth, even transitions.

This is a six week series with classes meeting once per week (no classes during Thanksgiving week): The cost is $65 per person

Never been to Yoga Central or to a yoga class? We invite you to try a free introductory class. This will be a gentle class for people new to yoga. We will start at noon and end at 1:00. Find out why our classes our benevolent spiritually, healthy physically, mentally refreshing and emotionally uplifting. Yoga is a do-it-yourself art—no wishing, fantasizing, pill popping or name dropping can replace the healthy-conscientious daily climb of an intelligent yoga practice. (We will be moving—getting up and down off of the floor, twisting, bending, breathing, lifting, swaying, coping and contending.)
