Hands-On Assisting Workshop
For Yoga Teachers, Movement Educators, and
Curious Practitioners
July 20 1-4
Yoga Project
Led by: Stacy Dockins
M.S. in Kinesiology –
Orthopedic Rehabilitation
25+ years of yoga teaching
experience
20+ years of leading yoga
teacher education
In this 3-hour immersive workshop, we’ll take a modern, mindful approach to hands-on assisting—one that values consent, science, and student empowerment over outdated, hierarchical methods.
You’ll learn to offer support through touch that is:
-
Anatomically informed
-
Respectful of boundaries
-
Empowering, not correcting
-
Grounded in kinesthetic intelligence and proprioception
We’ll explore the evolution of assisting from the traditional guru-student model to a more collaborative, trauma-aware, and choice-driven method. This includes current best practices around:
-
Asking for explicit permission to touch
-
Honoring student agency and autonomy
-
Enhancing nervous system regulation through touch
-
Supporting rehabilitative movement through informed assists
Whether you’re a yoga teacher, movement guide, or simply curious about the role of touch in learning and healing—this workshop will leave you with new insights and hands-on tools you can apply immediately.
Expect a mix of lecture, demonstration, and plenty of guided practice.
