I had a serious back injury eight years ago that kept me away from work for 6 weeks (bed ridden for much of it) and it took nearly 6 months to recover and regain complete feeling in my one leg due to nerve impingement. I can say with certainty that Pilates greatly speeded up my recovery. Within weeks of my injury, I went to see Kathleen Maier and she had me doing bridges with sliders under my feet to strengthen my core. At first I though it would not be possible for me to do this but within a few weeks I was able to see marked improvement. I am positive the active treatment allowed me to return to work much sooner than I thought possible. I have been one of her students since that time and I have not experienced a recurrence of back pain. Kathleen is very knowledgeable and recognizes imbalances in your body and what it takes to correct them. I was able to avoid medication and surgery by actively taking control of my situation and I would strongly recommend her Pilates class as a way to help prevent or manage injuries once they occur.

Ilana is a terrific instructor. I have been taking classes with her since April 2019. The transition to a virtual format has been seamless. I have always thought that Ilana has a gift for cueing and adjustments. They were excellent during in-person classes and I'm happy to find that the same is true in a virtual setting. Her classes are challenging and varied, with good flow, and she always offers modifications to increase or decrease the intensity of an exercise. I can't recommend her enough. I leave the classes feeling stronger, better aligned, more flexible and relaxed.

Kathleen is a fabulous instructor. She can tell just from watching you what parts of your body are tight and often it's not the part you thought was the problem! She has cured me from chronic foot pain which kept me from fully enjoying life. Now I can go for long walks, hikes, snowshoes, even long 'clipped-in' bike rides, without a whisper of that old pain. My posture has improved markedly. She is a wonder. I've been doing the virtual classes since the pandemic hit and she is just as effective online as she is in person. I get one-on-one attention in a group setting, even virtually. Can't say enough about what a knowlegable, experienced and intuitive instructor Kathleen is. And the classes are fun too!

I've been seeing Kathleen for 4.5 years now. She worked with me during both my pregnancies with the hip and pelvic pain I was dealing with from all the extra weight and the instability of my core muscles. Currently, I am relatively fit, do HIIT workouts 6 days a week and have never had any significant injuries, yet I still have some significant tightness and discomfort all along my right side that affects my sleep and daily functioning. I don't have to tell Kathleen any of the pain that I am feeling, her assessment pinpoints it all. Her sessions make a huge difference on my pain and discomfort (and help me understand the tight root sources!) and the exercises that she sends me home with make a huge difference on my ability to address my symptoms daily. If you have any kind of acute or chronic pain, go for an assessment with Kathleen and when she tells you where your issues are without you saying a word, you will realise that she understands your body better than you do and that you are in the most capable hands for unwinding all the tightness and pain in your body.

Kathleen is the best in the business. She is meticulous, every detail is on point when it comes to your form and execution of exercise. Her extensive knowledge and keen eye is always present for every exercise during class. Kathleen will correct your form of execution to avoid injury and cheating so you are getting the best results from the exercise.
I can't say enough about this lady and her team they truely are all Masters in their field. When I came to Kathleen in 2015 I could hardly walk I literally had no core, fallen arches, twisted and hip hiked pelvis and expanded rib cage. I was in extreme pain, and she brought me back to life. I lost inches gained enormous balanced strength between the left and right sides of my body, I gained mobility and flexibility from top to bottom.
I highly recommend Refined Pilates Method it changed my life and to that I am eternally grateful, the freedom of movement is glorious.

I can't say enough about Kathleen! She is an incredible instructor. I have known her for over 10 years. She has an incredible eye for detail and has helped me to heal and strengthen my body no matter what is going on with it. I am a dancer and lead a very active life and I thank Kathleen and her training for keeping me healthy and strong. She makes an effort to be up on the latest knowledge in her field and I appreciate that she apply new things to my training. I only wish I could train with her everyday! Her space is beautiful and clean - so lucky to have her in Calgary!

I have had surgery for a knee injury. I'm still prone to injuries even though I
faithfully do my physio exercises. My physiotherapist recommended pilates and to specifically work with Kathleen. I was skeptical but not anymore. Kathleen is amazing in how she can zero in on the exercises I needed and modify exercises for me during a class. I know I am stronger and am now able to do activities I love like hiking and biking.
Pilates has now become a major component of my exercise regime. I'm a believer!!
