My experience at my yoga class. Mindful vinyasa. I feel relaxed and good vibes. It’s a pleasure to come to class on Tuesday. Yuuki is such a great teacher. His exercise is so soothing to my mind, body, and spirit. I feel much stronger. The routine is so gentle but yet rewarding and complimentary to the body and brings out the goodness in me which is my soul. The staff is very professional and polite and welcoming.
Always an athlete, Dena grew up competing in gymnastics, track and cheerleading. Yoga started as a workout that was much kinder on her body. But when she endured personal hardship -- losing her mom to cancer -- she started to see yoga as a much deeper, holistic practice that became a critical part of healing from loss. When she decided to make the leap to teaching yoga and mindfulness, Dena received her RYT200 certification through Tavoos Garden, based in Siem Reap, Cambodia, studying under the great Yogi Madhav. Travel is a strong passion, so it was fitting that Dena's yoga teaching journey would be in an international setting.
Now her hope is to help students use yoga as a tool for empowerment, resilience and liberation and to make the practice available and approachable to all. Dena has a deep appreciation for the physical tradition of asana but also for the other limbs of yoga. Her classes are dynamic, yet playful, rooted in classic hatha and vinyasa while incorporating things that light her up, like Rocky quotes and 90s pop music. Students love the energy and enthusiasm she brings to each session as well as her constant care for their well-being and enjoyment. Along with teaching yoga independently -- in-person and virtually -- Dena has been an instructor with Sputnik Yoga, a pop-up yoga company that holds classes in unexpected locales all over New York City.
