Jerrod is a very knowledgeable teacher. He customizes each class on the fly according to what the students in the class need. He provides options and modifications to meet the needs of each student. As a fellow teacher, I can say this is much more difficult than coming with a class that was prepared in advance without knowing your audience/what specific issues they are dealing with. Yin Yoga is very challenging for some students because it requires the student to slow down and hold poses longer. In a world that is always moving, finding stillness can be difficult. There are so many benefits for the mind and body when we slow down. We have become human do-ings rather than human beings. I have found much personal benefit to learning how to just be. Highly recommend Jerrod, Yin Yoga and the Yoga Center of Steamboat.
Alex began practicing yoga eight years ago as a way to find peace and balance in her life. She is constantly reminded of the healing powers of yoga in all its modalities whenever she practices. Yoga has truly transformed her life; the relationship to her heart, soul, mind and body. It has allowed her to discover and explore life in an entirely new light, which she hopes to share through her classes. Alex believes that to practice yoga, in any capacity, is a chance to learn how to enjoy life more. To deepen her practice and share her love of yoga, Alex received her 200hr yoga teacher certification at Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico along with her Reiki Level 1 Practitioner in the Usui-Tibetian lineage. She is certified to teach hatha, vinyasa, yin, restorative yoga and practice Reiki in group or one on one sessions.
Growing up on an island instilled an easy going way of being for Alex, one that works to accept and move with the ebbs and flows of life. Alex loves teaching slow flow, vinyasa/yin, and root to rise classes that allow students to be guided by their bodies and what feels good. She believes in honoring the wisdom of the body and allowing for organic movement to occur in her classes. Combining pranayama, visualization, meditation and intuitive movement, her classes are an invitation to all to find contentment and bliss in everyday life.
