Emily Beck is the owner of ETBMusic and Fine Arts Center. She has been teaching private music lessons since 2000, and in schools since 2007. She currently teaches over 50 students each week and offers lessons for piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and voice, as well as Composition, Musikgarten Classes and other specialized group lessons and classes. She earned a Bachelor's Degree and Piano Pedagogy Certificate from Northern Kentucky University and a Master's Degree in Education with emphasis in Music from Xavier University. She is a licensed Musikgarten Instructor and received the OFMC Junior Composers Club Award in 2014 and 2015.
Miss Ellen C. Godbey loves to teach piano and voice at ETB! She is the music teacher at St. Antoninus School and Sts. Peter and Paul Academy. Ellen holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Xavier University. When she isn't teaching, she loves building her Mary Kay business, getting crafty, performing in musicals, and loving on her two kitties!
Ally Oakes is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) with a degree in Music Education. Her primary instrument is violin, but she also loves to teach viola, cello, and bass. She has experience teaching with the New Horizons Orchestra and the Wyoming Middle School Orchestra and has acted as a guest conductor with the Cincinnati String Festival at CCM. Ally loves to teach music because she feels that it is a wonderful route for self expression as well as being a fantastic way to learn life skills like patience, collaboration, and discipline. It is Ally’s goal as an educator to meet each student where they are and help them grow to be proud of their accomplishments as musicians.
John Bertke is an accomplished, professional drummer who has been playing for well over 20 years. He regularly performs live at venues around the city and has toured coast to coast as well as internationally. He has a great deal of recording experience with exposure reaching national TV. John has been teaching privately and working with marching percussion groups since 2003. His teaching skills range from basic drumming to multiple styles of drum set percussion to specializing in marching snare/tenor/bass drum. He has worked with many Cincinnati high schools, including Elder, Sycamore, Turpin, and Madeira.
Sabra Charles loves music and is very excited to share her passion with you! While currently a senior at Seton High School, she has been teaching since 2016. Sabra has participated in several competitions including the Ohio Music Educator's Association, the Junior Music Festival, and the American Guild of Organists Young Scholars Competition. She also has additional music experience with the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music’s Cincinnati Youth Choir, the May Festival Ensemble, School Vocal Ensemble, and Acapella Group. In addition to classical and choral music, Sabra is dedicated to teaching and enhancing sacred music through St. Dominic’s Adult Choir, Organ Playing, and St. William's Youth Choir. She can't wait to make music with you!!
Ben Huhn is a drum teacher at ETBMusic and Fine Arts Center. He has been playing drums since 2010 and currently plays in a hard rock band. He is a Junior at UC that has a passion for the music he plays. He teaches all drumline percussion and drum set. He was Elder Percussion section leader for two years and has participated in Marching Band, Indoor Drumline, Steel Drum Band, Pep Band, and the Stage/Jazz Band. He also has experience playing different live gigs from Grade School Festivals to Battle of the Bands competitions.
Carl G grew up knowing music was going to be his path in life in a little community called Sayler Park. Both he and his sister Alison followed the arts as a career choice and have composed music together in a band called entheos. Carl received a certificate in Sound Engineering in 2003 from the Recording Workshop and worked for Cincinnati Recreation Commission as a sound engineer on Fountain Square and the P & G Pavillion. While taking lessons at Keller Music in 2006, he was offered a job teaching guitar. Justin VanWagenen is in his third year of studies at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (CCM). He is studying Music Education and Jazz Drumset Performance. Justin has experience with a variety of instruments including drums, piano, guitar and bass. He plays and records with several local bands of varying genres.
Christina Stalbaum has earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with concentrations in Painting and Drawing from the College of Mount St. Joseph and a Master in Special Education from the University of Cincinnati with the emphasis on Severe Behavior Handicapped and Learning Disabilities, along with a Reading Endorsement. She is a Certified Registered Behavior Technician, Emotion Code Practitioner and Yoga Instructor. Christina incorporates her 40+ years of academic and work experiences into her studio classes to provide individual, and universal, learning opportunities for her students that include play, expressive and receptive language, journaling, visual arts, respect for self and others, self-management and meditation. She has taught students in public and private schools in a variety of demographic, multi-age and multi-ability settings.
Mary White has recently retired as a Music Teacher of 41 years. Her last teaching post was the Music Director at Mercy McAuley High School. She is so excited to join the staff at ETB, which will allow her to continue to share her love of music with others. In her new “retired chapter” she knows she will enjoy spending time with her husband, grown children and grandchildren. Her hobbies include cooking, gardening, and travel.
