Zen Heart Center
Kelly George, co-creator of Zen Heart Center, is a 200 hour registered yoga instructor who is trained in the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition. She has been practicing yoga for over 18 years and has a deep passion for sharing embodied practices that honor the mind-body-spirit connection. Kelly also earned a Masters Degree in Cultural Studies from the University of Washington-Bothell where her research focused on utilizing alternative pedagogies, such as indigenous knowledge, yoga, and mindfulness/meditation, as a tool to recognize our cosmic interconnection to all of the web of life. She incorporates mindful meditation into every class and emphasizes the importance of alignment and balance, both on and off the mat. In addition to teaching in the studio, Kelly has also led a yoga-focused university study abroad program to Oaxaca, Mexico and has facilitated several yoga workshops. Her love of connecting with the community has also led her to offer fun events such as private yoga parties and goat yoga. After becoming a certified Vibrational Sound Therapy Practitioner, Kelly began offering individual sessions in this healing modality but took her passion for music & vibration a step further by offering group sound baths, her favorite way to be of service to the greater community. Opening a community wellness center where people can gather to grow & learn together has been a vision of Kelly's for several years. Zen Heart Center is an actual dream come true and she is beyond grateful for the opportunity to share it with the Bothell community. She is a mother of two teenagers, a dedicated tree-hugging environmentalist, and a social justice ally. Forever the student, Kelly loves to travel, listen to live music, connect with friends, and spend as much time in the company of trees, water, and mountains as possible. Community building and promoting self-care are just some of her main goals in sharing her love of yoga and sound.
