After discovering formal dance training as a young adult, Hannah Tiên began devoting her life to finding full artistic expression through cultural embodiment and the movement arts. This led her to pursue the enrichment of her technical and somatic training at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she studied and performed under many world-renowned dance artists and choreographers, including Rosangela Silvestre, Donna Mejia, Rennie Harris, amongst others. She holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in both Dance and Geography, has worked as an international freelance artist, as well as a performing company member of Afro-Brazilian Dance Company, Samba Colorado, from 2017 to 2020 under Kebrina Josefina de Jesus. Since then, Hannah has, and continues to travel to Salvador, Bahia, to attend dance intensives under her master teachers Rosangela Silvestre and Vera Passos, continuing the study of Afro-Brazilian Dance and the Symbology of Orisha Dances. Additionally, during her time in Colorado, Hannah was exposed to Capoeira and began her training in the Afro-Brazilian Martial Art within the Mestre Acordeon lineage. Since moving to Seattle at the beginning of 2021, she has been privileged to study under Mestre Mangangá at the Seattle Capoeira Center. As a multicultural human and artist, Hannah is dedicated to studying, training, and understanding a wide array of movement disciplines and traditions, honoring the lineages and voices of Ancestors through her work.
