John began his training in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu with Team Megaton in early 2000. After a split in the association John left Team Megaton for Gracie Barra. In March 2011 John was promoted to Black Belt by Tim Shears and the Gracie Barra Association. John can be found teaching and rolling on the mats at PTT VanCity or refereeing for the Canadian Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Federation (CBJJF).
