High Altitude Martial Arts

NameRobin SolsberyWhere do you usually teach and train?HAMAJiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, or both?BothHometownRoswell,New MexicoCurrent RankPurpleWhat year did you start training?2013How did you get started?I started watching MMA when I was a child in another country.Wanted to learn how to fight, part in necessity part in curiosity.Bullies, and those bigger than me were a consistent problem.I couldn't walk around longer knowing I had no education on how to actually defend myself. It struck a cord with me. A chance to change myself and my life for the better. To be the kind of person I wanted to grow into.I was hooked, studied and trained myself in a garage till I could make it to CO and get some real training in.What's the biggest challenge you've encountered in your training, and how did you overcome it?Injuries have been the toughest part. I've done a lot of over training and under recovering, things outside of your control are going to happen but seeking to train at about a 7/10 intensity, consistently unless you need to peak for a competition is a life saver. Martial arts are a marathon not a sprint. What's your favorite thing about training or teaching, and why?The Lifestyle. Working hard consistently to improve myself and those around me. Camaraderie in struggle. Passion and Art paired with patience and enjoyment. Giving back to others the way my coaches have to me. I try to be the person I needed when I was younger. What are your personal goals on and off the mat?To live a meaningful life. Worth all it's pains and struggles and that when I'm done with it leaves the world a better place. What's something people might be surprised to learn about you?My Spanish is pretty darn good. Both of my grandfather's fought on opposite sides of WW2. I have 11 siblings.(Not mormon.)
