About Causby Karate Academy Causby Karate Academy was founded in 2009 by Ben and Stephanie Causby. After many years of dedicated training and instruction to others under the guidance of senior instructors, the Causbys decided to open their own studio as a way to continue to serve the community. Mrs. Stephanie Causby is a third degree black belt instructor in the World Tang Soo Do Association and has been training for over 16 years. Stephanie began training as a young girl and has had the opportunity to train in the Korean art of Tang Soo Do under Grandmaster C.S. Kim of the International Tang Soo Do Federation, Grandmaster J.J. Kim of the World Moo Duk Kwan Federation, Grandmaster Saul M. Kim of the World Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation, and Grandmaster J.C Shin of the World Tang Soo Do Association. Mrs. Causby has a passion for teaching women and children self defense techniques to protect themselves in today’s society. Stephanie values the discipline, self confidence, and mental focus that training Tang Soo Do brings to practitioners. Mrs. Causby’s educational background includes a B.S. in Animal Science and a M.S. in Reproductive Physiology and Genetics (both from NC State University). Stephanie serves our community at a human infertility clinic in Charlotte. Mr. Ben Causby is also a third degree black belt instructor in the World Tang Soo Do Association. His passion for improving physical fitness, mental discipline, and spiritual strength is apparent in every class he teaches. Mr. Causby has been a positive influence in the lives of many. His educational background includes a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University.
