Muay Thai is a combat sport from Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. Muay Thai is also known as the art of 8 limbs because it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins and feet as weapons. Like most competitive full contact sports, Muay Thai has a heavy focus on body conditioning designed to promote a level of fitness and toughness required for ring competition. Training regimens include running, shadowboxing, rope jumping, bodyweight resistance exercises, medicine ball exercises, abdominal exercises and in some cases weight training. Class training will include heavy bag drills, Thai pad/ focus mitt work, partner drills and sparring.
16 oz boxing gloves and hand wraps. Shin guards, headgear, mouthpiece, cup for sparring is mandatory.
