About AmeriKick Amerikick was started by Dennis Tosten, who began his martial arts journey at age 13. Back then classses were three hours long, and onlyadults were permitted to train. As a 13 year old, Dennis began his training in Ju-Jitsu. the trainuing involved throwing and learning to fall. after he completed his training, he moved on to kenpo Karate, which consists of over 1000 self defense moves and requires 5200 hours to obtain a blacl belt. he continued his training in shotokan, one of the most traditional systems, with a focus on strength, power and samurai sword training. At age 18 Dennis purchased the school from his instructor in northeast Philly, which then was called the “American Karate Studios”.At the time, dennis Tosten supplemented his training with Krav Maga, Kung Fu, Ninjitsu, Judo, Bando and Arnis, and is currently one of the nation's top black belts. Competing Nationallly for over 30 years, Master Tosten has been state and nationally ranked in Olympic Tae Kwon Do, Kenpo, Sparring(full and light contact), weapons, and forms. Over the years, he has promoted many black beltswho stayed on to become certified Amerikick instuctors. As marti8al arts became more popular, these insrtuctors expanded to new locations with the new name AMERIKICK, to symbolize a karate system designed for the american way of life.
