Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) – Sit-Down Session What it is: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurised chamber, increasing oxygen levels in your body’s tissues. It supports healing, reduces inflammation, and promotes overall wellbeing. What to expect from your appointment: You’ll sit comfortably in a spacious chamber while it gently pressurises. Sessions typically last 60 minutes. You’re welcome to watch a screen, listen to music, read, or simply relax during your treatment. What to wear: Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You may be asked to remove jewellery and electronic devices. Note on consistent use: For the best results, regular sessions are recommended, as benefits often build over time.
Before undergoing Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), preparation is important for your safety, comfort, and to get the most out of the treatment. 1. Wear Cotton Clothing if possible. Avoid synthetic materials, which can build static electricity. 2. Remove: All metal objects, including jewellery, piercings, watches, dentures and hearing aids. 3. Eat Lightly: Eat a small meal 1–2 hours before your session to prevent low blood sugar or nausea. Avoid alcohol or carbonated drinks beforehand. 4. Hydrate (but not excessively): Being hydrated supports oxygen delivery but avoid drinking large amounts right before to reduce restroom urgency. 5. Avoid Smoking and Caffeine: These can constrict blood vessels and reduce oxygen absorption. 6. Use the Restroom Beforehand: Sessions typically last 60–90 minutes, so it’s best to go before entering the chamber. 7. Air travel: You should not use HBOT within 24 hours of flying. 8. Inform the Technician If You Have: Congestion, cold, sinus infection, ear problems, or a recent fever. Any implanted medical devices (pacemakers, insulin pumps, etc.). Claustrophobia or anxiety—you may be given strategies or medication to help you relax.
