About the Class

As the name suggests, Power Yoga is focused on building strength and endurance. It is also an excellent form of Yoga for burning calories.  With Power Yoga, the emphasis is on the flow from one pose to the next, rather than approaching each pose separately. Power Yoga is a fast-paced and intense activity. You move from one posture to another rapidly, linking your breathing to the different motions of your body. Additionally, regular Power Yoga practice can benefit you by: strengthening your heart and lungs helping control high blood pressure improving cholesterol levels controlling blood sugar levels building stronger bones and muscles helping with weight loss improving sleep boosting energy levels improving brain function lowering your risk for chronic conditions like heart disease, stroke, and diabetes From Renee (the Power Yoga Teacher): The fundamental purpose of Baptiste Yoga is to awaken and empower all human beings to live life fully, in wholeness and to discover one's full potential. Baptiste yoga is powerful, but it's adaptable and modifiable to make it work for anyone. It develops both strength and suppleness; which leaves every practitioner with an overall improved health and wellbeing. I will lead yogis through the “Journey into Power” sequence created by Baron Baptiste. Through Asana, we clear toxins from the body and become aware of body parts and functions that can go unnoticed. Moving deeper into our asana practice, we begin to discover pranayama and the importance of breath and how we coordinate our movements with the rhythm of our breathing. In the inhalation and exhalation of air is this vital life force which generates life; or no life. I am excited to begin this yoga journey with all of you and to flow together. Namaste. 

Special Instructions

Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start time in order to use the bathroom, set up your spot, and settle in for class. If you have any physical restrictions or medical conditions that limit your movement, please talk to your instructor prior to the class to determine if and what modifications may be called for in order for you to get the most out of class. Of course, all are welcome to come in and participate! If you feel that you are beginning to experience symptoms of illness (cough, sniffles, fever, etc.) please respect the other participants and the staff and do not attend the class. Your body may require all it's energy to fight off the infection and we thank you for your efforts to not spread contagious conditions. You will not be charged for missing class due to illness. Online booking for classes ends 3 hours prior to the class start time. If you would like to book your spot within those 3 hours, please call (334-770-0419) or message (334-336-0700) the studio to verify there is space and have our staff prepare a spot for you.
