This is a 50 minute class    Stott Pilates Matwork is a contemporary Pilates method that uses core stability to improve neuromuscular performance. Matwork exercises are a key part of Stott Pilates. Designed to help participants develop leaner, longer-looking muscles, establish core strength and stability, and heighten mind-body awareness. A variety of props are incorporated including weights, balls, rings + bands.   Focus Stott Pilates Matwork focuses on functional fitness and improving core strength and flexibility. It also aims to restore the spine's natural curves and rebalance the muscles around joints.    Principles Stott Pilates is based on five principles: breathing, pelvic placement, rib cage placement, scapular movement and stabilization, and head and neck placement.    Exercises Stott Pilates Matwork includes a variety of exercises with many modifications to suit different body types and abilities. Some examples of exercises include the roll down, cat stretch, rotation, hip release, scapula isolation, and side bend.
