Floatation is an evidence-based method of relaxation and recovery for the mind and body. During a session you will float in our open pool, effortlessly in a warm high density solution of Epsom salts and water, suspended from the stresses of gravity. Our floatation studio is designed to create a calming atmosphere, with low level lighting - or no lighting at all - and soundproof walls, to reduce external stimulus and support the relaxation response. By facilitating this meditative like state, the synergistic effect of all aspects of the floatation experience leaves the mind to work at its most efficient, allowing physical and mental recovery, extreme relaxation and increasing well-being. Please note our pool is open, with no lid, so the experience is one of spaciousness. The float itself lasts 1 hour, plus time before and after for showering.
To make sure you get the most out of your experience here are our recommendations: A session lasts approximately 75 minutes. This includes a 1 hour float and time for a shower before and afterwards. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your booking time. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate late arrivals. Please note that we require a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel or change an appointment, without charge. Otherwise full payment will be required. The Float Studio is a tranquil, quiet, private space. There is a private shower and changing area. To fully appreciate the experience it is recommended that you float nude (though of course you are very welcome to wear a swimming costume if you prefer). We provide everything you will need: towels, natural shower wash & shampoo (you may wish to bring you own hairbrush and moisturiser should you require them). There is also a hairdryer available. We suggest avoiding caffeine or other potent stimulants before your float; as we’re sure you can imagine, coffee does not create the ideal headspace for relaxing. Try to make sure you are going to be comfortable for the next hour – don’t eat too much before your float but don't be too hungry either, and don't drink excessive amounts of water. Keep in mind that salt can sting sensitive skin so it is not advisable to shave immediately beforehand, and if you have big cuts or grazes we would advise waiting for them heal before floating. We do provide vaseline to cover any smaller cuts or grazes. If you have had a tattoo in the past 3 weeks you will not be able to float (unless you have a 'second skin') It is also not advised to float if you currently have haemorrhoids. Please wait at least 1 week before floating if you have dyed your hair. Please do not apply anything to your skin prior to floating. Menstruation: If you are menstruating you will need to use a tampon or a mooncup whilst floating. Pregnancy: Many pregnant women enjoy floating, however it may be advisable to check with your midwife or doctor before booking your appointment. Post-Natal : If it is less than 3 months please check with your doctor or midwife before floating.
