Reiki is a gentle energy healing technique that promotes relaxation and well-being. Reiki comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy. The modality was codified by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s and it is now used in hospitals and hospices worldwide in conjunction with other health treatments. Reiki can be used for pain management, depression, anxiety, and musculoskeletal conditions. The practitioner’s hands often produce a feeling of warmth, cold, tingling, or pulling sensation, depending on the ailment being treated. After a session, clients frequently report sensations of bliss, exhilaration, calm, and buoyancy. About The Session Reiki sessions are one hour. The beginning of the sessions are spent on intake- at this juncture clients are welcome to provide any information regarding the reason for their visit. After establishing intentions, recipients rest fully clothed laying down on a massage table while different hand positions are applied based on their needs and reiki begins to flow.
