Yin yoga is a slow-paced style that is focused on meditation. In yin, you will hold poses for much longer (roughly 5-7 minutes for each pose) and utilize tools such as blankets, blocks, and straps more frequently. This style is designed to give the body and mind a true and equal chance to find stillness, as well as openness. Yin yoga is often recommended for those who have more strenuous exercise already in place, such as cardio, weight lifting, and general regimes that are harder on the body because the style can almost serve as a reset and realignment for the body. That being said, it is also great for anyone who simply wants to slow down and practice finding a pause in their day-to-day life. Since your body remains completely on the ground for most of the class, and offers those tools to help make one as comfortable as possible, this is a great style for all levels to try. Mats, blocks, straps, and blankets are provided.
