About the Class

QiGong with Nancy Mayne is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine which combines gentle movement, coordinated breath, and focused intention to cultivate vital energy, or “Qi.” This ancient practice is based on the repetition of simple, accessible movement patterns intended to enhance coordination, improve flexibility and reduce stress. As stagnant energy is released, there is space to welcome vitality.  QiGong is offered every Tuesday morning at 9am. Classes can be purchased online or in-person for $20 -or- as a 5-class pack for $90 ($18/session). Please arrive a minimum of ten minutes before class starts to prepare for class. First come, first serve. Class limit: 20 --------------------------------------------------- About Nancy Mayne: After graduate school Nancy Mayne taught English in France until hearing the call to join recovery efforts following the tsunami of 2004. While volunteering in India and Thailand, she discovered ancient healing arts and prolonged her stay in Southeast Asia to study yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, Thai massage, QiGong and herbalism. After returning to the United States, she obtained yoga and QiGong instructor credentials and began leading movement classes and educational workshops. She loves sharing mindfulness and embodiment practices, finding them beneficial to her well-being, and looks forward to sharing them with the Awaken Wholeness Center community.

Special Instructions

Wear loose or comfortable clothing. Bring a water bottle. A Note About Footwear: Many people practice QiGong in bare feet. Some people prefer to wear yoga socks.  If you choose to wear shoes, recommended footwear includes flat-soled, flexible shoes with thin soles, such as Fei-Yue shoes, or traditional Chinese cotton-soled slippers (though traditional cotton-soled slippers can and tend to slip on the floor). Another option is minimalist barefoot trainers such as Xero or Vivobarefoot Shoes. These options still allow for proper ground connection, balance, and natural foot movement.
