Instructor
The Hive Fitness and Yoga Studio
Samantha first started in the fitness industry in Vancouver just out of high school at the YMCA, where she trained to be a fitness instructor and personal trainer. Sam always had a zest for helping people when it came to health and fitness and enjoyed the scene of assisting others in creating and attaining goals when it came to physique and diet.Although her early stint in fitness was short-lived, she always knew that it was the job for her. Sam was drawn back to it many times during the last 20 years. It wasn’t until she gave birth to daughter Grace in 2014 that she realized it was time to come back for good. She had been feeling tired, worn out, her body ached, and postpartum had changed it, a lot! She was probably one of the first people to walk into Anytime Fitness on January 1st when it opened, needing a change.Sam met her future friend and business partner of Misfits Fitness Studio, Nicole Cournoyer, who convinced her to recertify and return to training to use her knowledge and skills to help others. A year later, she was recertified and was embarking on another way to round out her training by becoming a Yoga teacher. She also is now working toward a practical herbalism diploma.Samantha specializes in body positivity, functional fitness, lifting for hormone balance, and finding balance for the body, mind and soul."Yoga has taught me to love myself for who I am and let go of any further judgement. My goal is to reflect this practice in my studio with my clients and colleagues because 'exercise is a celebration of what your body can do. Not a punishment for what you ate.' I am still practicing love and gratitude for myself and everyone around me every day, and by opening this studio, I want this to be the mainstay of my teachings."Samantha is BCRPA Group fitness instructor, Personal Trainer, RDYT Ayurvedic Yoga Teacher
