Human Reformer Pilates

About the Class

This introductory-level  45-minute Human Reformer Pilates Mat class is a great way to strengthen the core, align the body and alleviate joint pain.  The best type of Pilates training has always been using the Reformer Machine, but not everyone has one available to them.  This class uses a single resistance band to replicate many of the reformer exercises we do, helping you to feel the alignment of pilates exercises in a deeper, more aligned and supported way.  Generally, the goal of a mat Pilates class is to strengthen the body’s “powerhouse”, which refers to the abdominals, lower back muscles, pelvic floor, hips and glutes.  But it doesn’t stop there.  The format is designed to increase abdominal and limb strength, improve balance and posture, and increase mobility through all parts of the body.  By using your own body weight on the floor, you can re-shape your movement from head to toe by optimizing the central muscles of the core and giving you better mobility and ease of movement.  This class is typically done on the floor with a mat, and the Flex Kord or any long resistance band (available in KSF store), but will occasionally include the use of items in the KSF Equipment Bundle (Bender Ball, Gliding Discs, Figure 8 Tubing, and BOSU Band) available in the KSF Store. All levels are welcome in this class and modifications are given for specific needs.  If you have any specific issues in the spine, hips, shoulders or anywhere else, please let Ken know before class so modifications can be given for each exercise.  The class will flow gracefully from movement to movement and leave you feeling connected, aligned and more mobile throughout the body.
