Originally Joseph Pilates developed a series of mat exercises designed to build abdominal strength and body control. He then built various pieces of equipment to enhance the results of his expanding repertoire of exercises. His idea behind the equipment was to replace himself as a spotter for his clients. One of these machines is called the Pilates Reformer. Here at Providence! Integrated Health and Fitness we have 3 Pilates Reformers and 1 Cadillac machine. The Reformer is complimented with the Springboard that is attached to the wall (the tower on the machine). We take what we learn on the floor and now add resistance to the workout with springs. In Joseph Pilate's words, The Pilates Method “develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit”. Joseph Pilates was way ahead of his time, viewing the body holistically and emphasizing its capacity to work as a whole unit. This class is taught as an open level class with modifications for the beginner and variations for the advanced. The class is a semi private group class limited to 3 individuals. It can be considered a private one-on-one with individual attention since it is limited to just 3. The fee for this class is $45.00 as a Drop-In and $37.50 if you purchased a series of 10 to be used at anytime. You can sign in on line for this class to secure your spot. Try it out.
