About the Class

This dynamic physical education class introduces homeschool students to the exciting world of aerial arts, combining strength training, flexibility, coordination, and creative expression. Students will learn fundamental skills on apparatuses such as aerial silks, hammock, trapeze, pole, and lyra (aerial hoop) in a safe, supportive, and structured environment. Through progressive instruction, students build physical confidence, body awareness, and the ability to move with control both on and off the ground. What Students Will Learn: Foundational Aerial Skills: Basic climbs, foot locks, poses, balances, spins, and beginner inversions Strength & Conditioning: Upper-body and core strength, grip endurance, flexibility training, injury-prevention exercises Movement & Creativity: Choreography basics, flow techniques, and opportunities for artistic self-expression Safety Awareness: Proper warm-up/cool-down, apparatus basics, and personal responsibility while training Skills & Standards Addressed: Physical fitness & conditioning Balance, coordination, and motor skill development Goal setting and progressive skill building Creative movement & performing arts integration Teamwork, problem-solving, and confidence building Class Structure: Each session includes a full warm-up, guided skill instruction on one or more apparatuses, creative movement exploration, and a cool-down. Students advance at their own pace with individualized support. Who This Class Is For: Homeschool students ages 8-15 who enjoy active learning, creative movement, or trying something new. No previous aerial, gymnastics, or dance experience required! Attire & Requirements: Students should wear close-fitting athletic clothing that covers the backs of knees and underarms. Jewelry should be removed before class. All equipment is provided.
