Our Intro to Aerial Silks class is designed to build the foundational skills students need to feel confident, safe, and successful in aerial silks. This class focuses on technique, strength, and repetition rather than tricks, making it an excellent prerequisite or companion to our Beginner Silks classes. Students will learn and practice essential silks fundamentals such as basic climbs, footlocks, and wraps, along with drills to reinforce proper form, coordination, and control. Each class also includes conditioning and strength work to support aerial progress and injury prevention. This is a skill-building class, not a choreography or trick-based class. The goal is to help students develop strong habits, body awareness, and confidence in the air so they are better prepared for more complex skills over time. Students are welcome to take Intro to Silks and Beginner Silks simultaneously if they would benefit from extra repetition and support while continuing to explore beginner-level skills. This class is ideal for newer aerialists, students who want to strengthen their foundations, or anyone who feels they need a little extra practice to thrive in Beginner Silks.
Students should wear leggings that cover the backs of the knees and a fitted top that covers the midsection to allow for safe silks work. Sleeved attire works best. Please remove all jewelery before class and bring water to stay hydrated! This class is designed as a prerequisite or supportive companion to Beginner Silks. Students may take this class alongside Beginner Silks if they benefit from additional repetition, conditioning, or skill reinforcement. Progression in aerial arts is individual. Instructors may provide modifications, drills, or alternative exercises to support each student’s learning and safety.
