My first rule of belly dance is: If you’re not having fun––don’t do it!Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.Do you remember the dances of the 60's? The hully gully, walking the dog, the frug, the boogaloo, the jerk? Sound familiar? If you danced then – you can bellydance now!I've been bellydancing and teaching bellydance for over 30 years. When I first started I realized how the movements in bellydancing seemed very familiar just with a different posture and performed to a different rhythm and very interesting music. I also realized that bellydancing is for every age and every size. My class is a very low impact exercise that invigerates your entire body and being. It's fun!I was a member of the Mirage Dance Troupe that performed at the UT Student Union for over 35 years (the longest continuous bellydance venue in Texas and we believe in the US). I have taught at UT Informal Classes for over 30 years. Through bellydancing I have taught and/or performed in Mexico, Florida, Washington, Oklahoma, even exotic places like Dimebox and Yoakum just to name a few. I have made friends with people not only from all over the US but from Germany, Australia, Canada, Egypt, Tunisia. Some are several decades older and some several decades younger. They are computer wizards, silversmiths, engineers, doctors, lawyers, even an Indian Chief. We never would have met and become friends except for dance.Let's be friends and enjoy the dance together!
