Carrie Campbell is a former professional ballet dancer, and has danced with several outstanding companies including Ballet Austin, Hartford Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theater, and Chatuaqua Dance Festival. She has also taught ballet for many years to all ages and levels. After her dance career, Carrie went back to college and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hunter College with a degree in psychology and biology.Carrie was first introduced to Pilates in 1992, as part of her physical therapy to help rehabilitate chronic dance injuries. She has studied with master teachers such as Bob Leikens, Susan Moran, Phoebe Higgins, Romana Kryzanowska, Alycea Ungaro, and Ron Fletcher. She received her Pilates certification through Power Pilates NYC in 1998. It is a comprehensive certification where she studied anatomy, injury rehabilitation, and the Pilates method in depth, as well as apprenticing alongside senior teachers for over 600 hours. Since then, Carrie has been teaching Pilates full time in NYC both privately and in group class settings. In the fall of 2003, she joined the Power Pilates Teacher Training team, so that she could help certify new teachers and share her knowledge and passion for Pilates with others.With over 14 years of teaching experience, Carrie has built quite an extensive client base of all levels and ages. She has trained many celebrity clients including Naomi Campbell, Whoopi Goldberg, Debbie Harry, Laura Linney, Mandy Moore, and Mary Louise Parker. She has appeared in several Pilates videos and DVD's and recently recorded an audio CD of mat work, "Pilates on the Go!" She has been written up in Fitness Magazine, Us Weekly, Quest, and Allure, and appeared on The Today Show, Good Morning America and the WB news. She has also been a fitness consultant for Glamour magazine.Carrie teaches classical, pure Pilates, and not the watered down, pseudo version that you see at most gyms and health clubs today...it's POSITIVELY PILATES. Carrie maintains the belief that the rewards of practicing pilates stretch far beyond just body asthetics. She believes that Pilates should be practiced in order to benefit overall health, longevity, posture, awareness, and alignment. Pilates will give you a better body, but also so much more.
