Curated Pilates + Movement
Kaarin, spent years practicing pilates, becoming a certified instructor, and teaching Pilates out of a physical therapy clinic before branching out to start her own studio. She is a comprehensively trained Pilates Instructor and a Master Teacher Trainer for Pilates Academy International. Her goal is to create a space that focuses on developing the relationship between the teacher and the client and the client and their own body through the Pilates practice. Her approach to teaching whether one-on-one or in small groups is to curated the experience to each individual and where they are on that day. She brings the method to serve the human in front of her rather than expecting the person to fit into the method.Kaarin is passionate about the benefits that Pilates can bring to all people, but especially women. Pilates’ attention to both the pelvic floor and transverse and the posture muscles of the mid and upper back are very important to supporting women through the seasons of life. Pilates can often be used safely right up to the end of pregnancy and is an ideal form of exercise return to in the early postpartum period. As a form of resistance and body weight training it is also safe and effective for keeping and regaining bone density later in life, making it an excellent part of an osteoporosis fitness routine.Kaarin’s love for Pilates comes out of a life long relationship to movement. She began ballet early in childhood and followed that path to dance professionally in several companies in the US and Russia. Through ballet Kaarin was exposed to Pilates, first as a young student and later as a way to rehab from a foot injury. Early in her dance career she dove into Pilates while side-lined by an injury and found that the method uncovered weaknesses she did not know she had. Pilates allowed her to become a stronger and better dancer and the seed was planted for her to return to it as a career. While dancing professionally Kaarin completed her Bachelor of Arts at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
