Open Water Swimming
About the Class
We are very pleased to be able to offer open water swimming in the beautiful lake at Compton Verney, Warwickshire. Compton Verney is a grade 1 listed mansion house that was built in 1714. It is set within its landscaped grounds designed by non other than the famous Lancelot “Capability' Brown who was responsible for creating the lake you will be swimming in. The lake is stream-fed and has been tested and given 'excellent” status during the latest set of water quality tests. The lake will have two loops available with the largest being approximately 550m and the smaller one being around 250m. The swim loop sizes may be adjusted during the season depending on circumstances. Sessions are booked on a first-come-first-served basis with limited slots available per hour to ensure everyone has plenty of space. Swimmers will be asked to sign for having read the 'swimmers rules' prior to entering the water and will go through a check-in and check-out procedure for safety reasons. All swimmers will also be required to undergo a quick competency swim prior to setting off on the bigger laps. All sessions are fully covered with safety kayaks, spotters and a lifeguard. IMPORTANT. PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE MESSAGE 1. Sessions must be pre-booked prior to attendance. 2. We are offering two payment options. For £10 you can purchase an open water membership. This allows you to unlock membership pricing and can swim for as little as £9 per swim (when you purchase a 5 swim pass). Once you have purchased the membership, our system will recognise this and you will be offered the reduced pricing when you check out. The membership can be purchased via the Do3 app or by clicking HERE. 3. You must start your swim within the session time you book. You can swim over into the next session provided you have notified entry staff before you get into the water. 4. Please bring a brightly coloured swim hat with you so that you're easily spottable by the safety crew - avoid dark colours, silver and white. These are available to purchase on site or on the app for £7. 5. Tow floats are mandatory for all swimmers not wearing a wetsuit, and for children. These can be hired for £3 or purchased for £22 (either via the app or onsite). 6. All children must swim in well fitting wetsuits (loose wetsuits are cold, heavy and unsuitable for swimming), use a tow float, which we provide free of charge for children, and be accompanied 1-2-1 by an adult. The adult will need to swim next to them at all times if they are under 14. 7. Please also ensure all email notifications are turned on so that you receive any emails about cancellations due to adverse weather, etc. The Venue: Compton Verney Lake. Compton Verney, Warwickshire CV35 0JH - park at the Visitor Centre and go through the gate to the left of the centre. Follow the signs and paths up to the lake. DO NOT ENTER THE WATER UNLESS YOU HAVE CHECKED IN.
