Experience a well-rounded approach to swimming in our Wednesday evening technique and fitness squad session. This session alternates between a technique and drills focus for improving technique, and weeks dedicated to fitness and pacing development. This rhythm complements our Monday evening session at Highworth Recreation Centre and helps deliver our evening swimmers a well rounded training flow. Key Features:- Technique Emphasis: Some weeks are dedicated to refining your stroke through drills and specialized equipment.- Fitness and Pacing: Alternate weeks focus on improving overall fitness and pacing, ensuring a holistic approach to your swim training. Arrival - Please arrive at the pool at least 10 minutes before the session start time. Please do not be late for the session as you will miss key aspects of the instructions and warm up. Minimium Swim Criteria to join- Swimmers must be able to swim at least 200m of non-stop and proficient front crawl in approximately 2:30 per 100m. - Participants must be 18 years or older. - Please note that this is not a learn-to-swim session; attendees must have a basic proficiency in front crawl. Swim Kit Required for a South West Swim Squad Session:*Note: If it's your first trial session, don't worry if you don't have any swim gear. While essential for long-term participation in squad, it can be acquired once you know our sessions are for you and we can also reccomend which paddles are right for you at this time. Mandatory Training Aids - To make the most out of your sessionEquipment is available to purchase from South West Swim with a 5% squad discount. Head to the SWS Store via your booking account. - Costume (Gents: Swim jammers, swim briefs, or swim trunks; avoid swim shorts or beach shorts as these simply create drag) - Goggles - Pull Buoy - Fins - Paddles (Advice on the right paddles for you can be provided for you once we have seen you swim) - Full Drinks Bottle Optional but Useful Training Aids: - Centre Snorkel - Finis Tempo Trainer (Recommended for Tuesday & Thursday sessions especially) Cancellation Policy - Important: - The cancellation window for all squad sessions (regardless of reason, including illness) is 36 hours before the session start time. - Cancellations or no-shows after this point are charged as normal, ensuring a fair system for swimmers and South West Swim. - Please use the booking system or mobile app to cancel, cancellations are not accepted via phone, text, email as these may be missed.- There are no exceptions to the cancellation policy in order to provide a fair system to all swimmers and South West Swim.
