About the Class

In this group we will be practicing Samatha-Vipassana Meditation, which we describe as the attainment of a sense of calm through the act of letting go, with the potential to bring about new and deeper insights into our awareness. This practice is, in essence, a simple seated meditation in which we focus our attention on our breath and the sensation of the breath in our bodies. The cultivation of this technique helps one learn to let go of distractions, both external and internal, and to train the mind to loosen its grip on our thoughts. Through this practice one tends to naturally become less reactive in ways they do not prefer as life continues to unfold around them often resulting in more pleasant and favorable relations and situations throughout their life.
