Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, meditative style of yoga that focuses on deep stretching and relaxation. Rooted in ancient Chinese Taoist principles, it emphasizes passive postures held for extended periods, typically 3 to 5 minutes or longer. These poses target the deeper connective tissues of the body, such as ligaments, fascia, and joints, promoting flexibility, circulation, and joint mobility. Unlike more dynamic yoga practices, Yin Yoga invites stillness, patience, and introspection, making it an excellent complement to active lifestyles. It also integrates breath awareness and mindfulness, encouraging practitioners to connect with their inner selves while nurturing physical and emotional balance. Whether you're looking to release tension, improve flexibility, or cultivate a calm mind, Yin Yoga offers a restorative and enriching experience for all levels.
Please prepare the following for your practice: cushion or bolster (firm ones preferred); block (or hardcover books); strap (or tie, bathrobe tie. scarf etc); therapy balls (or tennis balls) if you have. We won't need all of them in 1 class but it would be nice for you to prepare them before hand. The teacher will let you know which ones you need before the class starts.
